Licensed Clinical Social Work Licensure

Criteria to meet LCSW licensure:

  • EDUCATION:  Has obtained an MSW, DSW, or Ph.D. in social work from a CSWE accredited school.

  • EXAMINATION:    LCSWA licensees must pass the ASWB Clinical level exam prior to issuance of the LCSW license. Once an LCSW Associate licensee has documented two years of clinical practice to the Board, the Board can grant examination eligibility.

  • EXPERIENCE:    While no experience is required to receive this license, Associate licensees working toward the LCSW requirements must document their supervision and practice to the Board every 6 months as required by regulation. Acceptable experience must be post MSW paid clinical employment.

Registered Play Therapy Supervision

I have been providing clinical supervision for over a decade and it is my desire to train therapists in Play Therapy.  I am trained in Client-Centered Play Therapy as well as directive techniques.  It is my belief that if therapists are working with children younger than ten, it is imperative they have taken some play therapy training.  Becoming an RPT-S changed the way I practiced therapy with children and I hope you find it as rewarding as I have.

Credentialing requires:

  • An active state license to practice psychotherapy

    • Complete a minimum of 350 hours of direct play therapy experience and 35 hours of simultaneous supervision in three phases.

  • Supervised play therapy experience hours must be accrued in a time period of no less than two (2) years and no more than seven (7) years.

    • Through the supervised play therapy experience, applicants are expected to demonstrate play therapy competencies.

Please visit the Association for Play Therapy website for the requirements of becoming a Registered Play Therapist.
